Spartan Health Sciences University Accreditations
There are over seventy different medical schools in the Caribbean, but Spartan Health Science University School of Medicine is one of the ten that are accredited by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions, also known as CAAM-HP. This legally constituted accreditation body was established in 2003 and is empowered to determine and prescribe standards and to accredit programs of medical, dental, veterinary and other health professions education for all CARICOM Countries.
WFME approval is very important because of ECFMG 2023 announcement which reads, ECFMG® has announced that, effective in 2023, physicians applying for ECFMG Certification will be required to graduate from a medical school that has been appropriately accredited by an accreditating agency which is approved by WFME.
In addition to this prestigious accreditation, which is designed to ensure the quality of education, professional standards and training offered, Spartan Health Sciences University also holds several other credentials.
CAAM HP
Spartan Health Science University has been accredited by CAAM HP since 2012 and was the First Medical College in St. Lucia to be accredited by CAAM HP.
Each time Spartan got accreditation for two years.
This time we have got Accreditation on Probation for a period of 3 years from CAAM HP from 2019 to 2022.
CAAM HP is recognised by the WFME as well as DOE’s National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation of USA as comparable to various USA Medical Programs.

Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)
Students graduating from Spartan Health Sciences University can take all of the steps in the USMLE or United States Medical Licensing Exam, which is required to practice medicine in the USA.
We are listed in the IMED (International Medical Education Directory) within the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) through the ECFMG of the United States.

As one of the few schools outside of the United States, Spartan Health Sciences University has received a recommendation from the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions, to be approved by the NYSED.
