What is CAAM-HP?

CAAM-HP is accreditation agency for all CARICOM countries.

The Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP)is the legally constituted body established in 2003 under the aegis of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM),empowered to
determine and prescribe standards and to accredit programmes of medical, dental, veterinary and other health professions education on behalf of the contracting parties in CARICOM. CAAM-HP will serve as the means of providing the assurance of quality that generates confidence in the principal stakeholders, students and the public.

CAAM-HP is to Caribbean Medical Colleges what MCI is to Indian Medical Colleges.

The degree of any Caribbean Medical College which is not recognised by CAAM-HP won’t be considered valid anywhere in the world.
The accreditation system used by the CAAM-HP is based on that of the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
CAAM HP is also recognised by WFME (World Federation for Medical Education)

What is WFME ?
WFME was established in 1972 by the  World Medical Association (WMA) and the World Health Organization (WHO), which are the additional voting members on the WFME Executive Council, along with the International Federation of Medical Student Associations (IFMSA) and the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

WFME is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation. It is the organisation in official relation with the World Health Organization (WHO) representing medical education, and the education and training of medical doctors worldwide.

What is ECFMG ?
ECFMG is a world leader in promoting quality health care—serving physicians, members of the medical education and regulatory communities, health care consumers, and those researching issues in medical education and health workforce planning.

Purpose of ECFMG is to

Certify the readiness of international medical graduates for entry into graduate medical education and health care systems in the United States through an evaluation of their qualifications.
Verify credentials and provide other services to health care professionals worldwide.
Enhance effectiveness by delegating appropriate activities in international medical education to FAIMER.

What is ECFMG 2023 announcement or 2023 Accreditation?
Starting in 2023, individuals applying for ECFMG Certification must be a student or graduate of a medical school that is appropriately accredited. More specifically, the school must be accredited by an accrediting agency that is officially recognized by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).

How does ECFMG 2023 Accreditation or Announcement affect you?
In 2023, individuals may not be eligible to apply for ECFMG Certification if their medical school is not accredited by a WFME recognised accreditating agency or is still in the process of obtaining accreditation by a WFME-recognized accrediting agency.
So if you are studying from a medical school which is accredited by an agency which is not recognised by WFME, u won’t be able to apply for ECFMG certification.
In other words, u won’t be able to practice as doctors in USA or even appear for USMLE steps if the medical college you are studying in is recognised by an accreditation agency which is not approved by WFME.
Just FYI, MCI is not yet recognised by WFME.
CAAM HP is recognised by WFME.

What is the difference between Clinical Rotations and Observership?
Clinical Rotations can be categorized into core clerkships and electives. Clerkship and elective rotations for international medical students are part of the medical student’s clinical education curriculum normally undertaken in the 3rd and 4th year of their MD program.
Students are required to do at least 72 to 80 weeks of Clinical Rotations

This will fall under Hands on category with direct patient interaction, direct patient care and clinical training. This is undertaken with the affiliated ACGME approved teaching hospital.
Students would also be required to appear for NBME exams after each rotation which would prepare them for their USMLE Step 2 examination.

It is a mandatory requirement for licensure by most states in USA that core rotations should be undertaken in
ACGME approved Green Book teaching Hospital.

To be eligible for NRMP match program it is imperative that all the rotations are ACGME approved.

Observership refers to shadowing-only rotations, NO direct patient-care, NO direct patient interaction and NO hands on clinical training

Observership does not qualify residency requirements.

What are Greenbook rotations?
Green book rotation is a rotation done in a hospital that has a ACGME approved Residency in that rotation or branch.
For example, if you want to do a internal medicine core clerkship then it has to be in a hospital where they have a ACGME approved Internal medicine residency program (which tells everyone that this place is a teaching hospital).
It also provides a chance to the student to impress the residency director of the hospital where he/she is doing the Clinical Rotation.
Are Clinical Rotations offered by Spartan Health Science University ACGME approved?

All the rotations offered by Spartan Health Science University in USA are in ACGME Approved Teaching hospitals in USA and are Green Book Clinical Rotations.

Why is there a difference in tuition fees between recognized medical colleges and non recognised or fraudulent medical colleges, especially during Clinical Sciences in USA ?
The cost (to Caribbean Medical Schools) of ACGME approved Green Book Clinical rotation in US teaching hospital is minimum 500 USD/week.
Students are required to do at least 72 to 80 weeks of Clinical Rotations. (Which means the cost to college for the last two years in USA is at
the very least 40,000 US$ equivalent to 28 lakh Indian rupees. This should get the alarm bells ringing when someone offers you the entire 5 year course at 30 lakh Indian rupees)

The Cost of Observership is 100 US$/month. At some private clinics it is 0.
Beware of people who play with the career of students by offering cheap Observership. Your MD degree won’t be valid in USA, India or any other country in the world.

Do we help students after enrolment is done?

Yes. Ofcourse.

We are with you every step of the way.
We stay in touch with the students and the parents throughout the course.
We apprise the parents of the academic progress of their children.
We are also involved in counselling sessions provided to the students during their course.
Unlike most consultants who recruit students to every college that pays them commission, we recruit students to just one college, which we have found to be the best option for Indian students through extensive research.
We are exclusive admission advisors for Spartan Health Science University for the region of Asia and we recruit students exclusively to Spartan Health Science University only.
This helps us focus all our attention to students that we recruit to Spartan Health Science University.
We also guide students in choosing the ACGME approved clinical rotation best suited to them which plays the most important role in getting PG/Residency in USA.
We help students in applying through NRMP program and prepare them for their all important interview.
We are with you throughout your course at Spartan Health Science University and during your PG/Residency .
We celebrate the flowering, not the students enrolled but those who BLOSSOM. We don’t want you to become doctors or engineers or poets or painters; we are interested in you being a doctor or an engineer or a poet or a painter.
