About St. Lucia
One of the many benefits of completing your medical education at Spartan Health Sciences University is the experience of living in Saint Lucia. Aptly named the Princess of the Caribbean, this island is home to welcoming, friendly people, breathtaking scenery and a range of activities and cultural events to enjoy throughout the year.
The weather on the island is beautiful throughout the year and stays constant throughout the year at a minimum temperature of 23oC and a maximum temperature of 31oC throughout the warmer months of May through October. The campus is located on the southern tip of the island and receives less rain than other areas of the island, but storms are typically brief.
Activities To Enjoy
Students have the opportunity to enjoy traveling from the University, which is located in Vieux Fort, a smaller town that offers all the amenities students need in their home away from home. From campus, students can travel around the island and trek through tropical forests, climb the mountains and volcanic plug, or enjoy a day spent enjoying the Sulphur Hot Springs that are formed as the result of an extinct volcano.
On weekends or just a break from studies, snorkeling, scuba diving or just relaxing on one of the many pristine beaches on the island is an ideal way to get away from it all and rejuvenate. There are coral reefs to explore, and dives that are ideal for people of all experience levels from beginners to experienced divers.
Spending time hiking the trails in the rainforest or climbing Gros Piton to gaze out over the rainforest and the Caribbean Sea is an activity most students look forward to at least once during their stay. The Our Planet Centre, the St. Lucia Botanical Gardens and the Pigeon Island National Park are exceptional places to explore with friends or on your own.
Of course, St. Lucia also offers top restaurants, shopping and sightseeing tours both on the water as well as on the island. Enjoying the island is part of the experience of attending Spartan Health Sciences University.
